Crossing Bridges: Annual Labour Law Conference

Last weekend (10-12th October) some of our member firm lawers attended the largest AIJA – International Association of Young Lawyers Annual Labour Law Conference ever, held in Istanbul.

Manuel Ferreira Mendes from our Portuguese member Paramount Legal was moderator at the “Whistleblowing cases in practice” panel.

Almudena Álvarez   from our Spanish member alvarez lentner was also moderating the “Changing views and laws on working times?” panel.

It was also the first time attending an AIJA Conference for our UK member Mike Hibberd from our member firm Doyle Clayton and as a member of the AIJA Executive Committee, Beatriz Sánchez Argüeso, member of the AIJA Executive Committee, was also there representing alvarez lentner.

Mastering trending employment & immigration developments

The labour and immigration law panels offered many discussions on a wide variety of trending topics in the field of international employment and immigration. They took deep dive into the latest employment and immigration law developments, ranging from implementing sustainable elements, over digitalisation, transparency, secrecy and flexibility at the workplace to working across borders.

The M&A panels focused on takeover tactics and transaction terms in public M&A deals. They delved into the intricacies of structuring and executing successful public M&A transactions, providing insights on current M&A climate and emerging opportunities in public markets.

Joint  Sessions – The carrot and the stick: Navigating Employee Benefit Plans and director liabilities

Our joint panels dove into the intricacies of employment-related M&A matters. They discussed director’s liabilities and explored strategies for incentive and benefits plans in the context of mergers and acquisitions, analysed tools to master workforce integration planning and discussed the use of golden handshakes and golden parachutes.
